Golfing Variety on Great Local Courses
JIMGA provides a
variety of golfing opportunities for both full and part-time residents. A
different game is played each week, sometimes team events and sometimes
individual. The President's and Memorial tournaments allow players of varying
skill levels to compete. Off island play is scheduled most months. A game is
held each Thursday morning out of the main clubhouse. Sign up two days in
advance.
Membership in the Jekyll Island Mens Golf Association is open to all
players. While many are full time island residents, winter visitors who come for
3 months often join. Current Annual Membership Fee is $35
USGA Golf Handicap System
Like most club golf JIMGA uses the USGA handicap system to ensure that
differing levels of skills can play competitively with each other. For new
members who have never had a handicap, they will be enrolled in the USGA system,
and will create a starting one, based on the results of their first few weeks of
play. Jekyll Island being a place of active recreation encourages those who want
to walk while they play to do so. For those who wish to use a cart, they are
available at the golf Center Clubhouse.
